Having a friend or two visit you for the weekend? Want to be sure they feel comfortable and at home? Want to be the best host possible, but frazzled about hosting your friend(s) in your small amount of square footage you have to work with?
Don’t fret. Your friends will be happy just to see you – trust me when I say that the last thing they are worried about is the space. If they were actually concerned about that, they would have snagged a hotel room instead of accepting your offer to crash at your place.
I give you my top 10 ways to make your guests feel at home:
- Ask them if there is anything you can get for them prior to their arrival.
- Be sure to let them know they are welcome to kick back and relax, and use what they want (if there are things you don’t want them to touch, put them away for the weekend).
- Have bedding ready – whether it is for a blow-up mattress, a pullout sofa, an extra bed, or a couch – with enough pillows and blankets.
- Have towels ready.
- Have some snacks out when they arrive.
- Ask if there is anything in particular that your guests want to do during the weekend, especially if they are from out of town.
- Have things planned to make for dinner or cool places around town planned to go for dinner out – remember to pick places that you will both enjoy, and that will give your guests a taste of your town.
- If you know your guests like a particular snack food or candy, get some in advance and have it out on the coffee table for them to snack on.
- Be sure to leave a light on in the hallway or bathroom at night so your guests don’t trip should they need to get up for anything in the middle of the night.
- Have fun! Enjoy your time with your guests and soak up the time you get to enjoy together!

make sure you have food and liquor
Yes both are definite necessities, lol! Especially the second one for a great night on the town!
Lemme take a stab at this comment stuff.
First of all, posting a weekly bulletin in the elevators is a fine idea. It’s nice to get a head’s up on what’s happening. Keep it up.
Secondly, on a comment card that was sent to me by the management corporation several months ago, I asked whether there were any plans for getting AT&T U-Verse in the building. The options we have now are pretty crappy (Time Warner is the suckiest cable service in Christendom; DirecTV requires a multi-year contract, last I checked). I never heard back from the corporation. If you’re soliciting comments, have the courtesy to respond. So again, I ask, is there any possibility of getting U-Verse here?
Thirdly, I’ve heard some complaints about how slow it is to get maintenance requests fulfilled here. My experience has been the exact opposite. We had defective microwave that was replaced within a day or two. Usually someone from the crack maintenance team is in contact with me the same day if I have an issue. I think the team does a great job serving a growing clientele.
Fourthly, to the person living on the 9th floor who insists on leaving a cigarette butt in the west end of the hallway every day, please stop that. Have the decency to stub it out before you leave your apartment and not foul up the commons. (and I smoke!) What did your parents teach you?
Hey Steve! Thank you for letting us know…this has been forwarded on to the Business Manager, Thomas Meredith. Meanwhile, feel free to call the office at 818-508-6646.
Would you be interested in guest blogging? Let me know what you think. Thanks again.
Hi! Sorry, I just now saw this message. What did you have in mind, re guest blogging?
Yes…do you have any particular topics you would to like to write about to your neighbors?
again, sorry for the delay. I need to figure out how to get a notification for updates to this thread.
To answer your question, no, nothing burning, but if I had something on my mind I could offer up something? I don’t pretend to have any special knowledge about this place or have any certain qualification to pontificate, but I do come with the odd thought now and then….
Gimme the info on how to post an item and I can probably come up with something… maybe on the historical walking tours of noho that are offered here… great way to get a handle on the history of this neighborhood.
Those are great ideas. Email me at mosherpa.nci@gmail.com…Thanks!
Good afternoon Steve,
I am sorry for the delay in response to your request about AT&T U-Verse availability here at NoHo14; however, I do want to assure you that I have been in contact with AT&T and have confirmed that this service is not yet being offered by them in our local area.
You may submit your contact information at http://www.attuverse.com; which will place you on an interest list for an automatic notification when this service does become available in our local area.
Thank you for your kind words regarding our hard working Maintenance Staff; who will be reminded again to monitor the hallways for items such as cigarette butts and report back to Management regarding the likely source.
Thank you for choosing NoHo14 Luxury High-Rise as your home!
